Student chapters are important to SAMPE because they support the Society’s educational mission and serve as training groups for the next generation of SAMPE members.
Students and faculty members are encouraged to create student chapters according to the following charter establishment requirements:
- A Student Chapter located within North America can be chartered by the North America Board.
- Four students and a faculty advisor or professional are required to form a Student Chapter but the students need not be at the same school.
- It is also required that a Professional Chapter must agree to sponsor the Student Chapter. The Professional Chapter initiates the request for the Student Chapter to be chartered. That request is submitted to the Secretary and then presented to the Board of Directors.
We want to help. The Student Chapter Development Committee is dedicated to helping student chapters succeed by providing information and resources. Contact Dr. Elizabeth Cates, the committee chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org.

If you see your school listed, click the above "here" and received insufficient info about the chapter you would still like to have a chance at SAMPE's fine Educational Programs, contact Michelle Tubb. If you don't see your school listed, and would like to participate in these fine programs by starting a SAMPE student chapter at your school, also contact Michelle Tubb. Those of you that are high school students, remember SAMPE - the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering early in your freshman year. Also remember that no engineer or scientist can exist without materials and processes. By the way, starting an engineering society or being an officer of the same enhances your resume. Company managers are always looking for the self-starter. An active engineering society member is just that!
