2016 Graduate Student Research Symposium
The 2016 Midwest SAMPE Graduate Student Research Symposium, held on June 17th at Tec^Edge Innovation & Collaboration Center (Dayton, OH), showcased the original scholarly work of 6 graduate students who reported their findings as oral presentations. First, second and third place winners received $300, $200 and $100, respectively. The first place winner also received an all-expense paid trip to compete at the national level at the 2016 Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX ) on September 26-29 in Anaheim, CA.
This year’s winners are:
Rachel Rai (Univ. of Dayton Chemical & Materials Engineering, master’s student) – Synthesis and Characterization of Graphene-based Composites for Non-Linear Optical Applications
Chang Liu (Univ. of Dayton Chemical & Materials Engineering, PhD student) – PAN and Pitch Based Carbon Nanofibers
Sadra Emami (Univ. of Dayton Chemical & Materials Engineering, PhD student) – Long term Durability of Balsa Core Sandwich Composites under Free-thaw Condition
