Each month, SAMPE Chapters meet, get involved in their communities, and engage with peers to promote the interests of SAMPE and the advanced materials and processes community. Boston Chapter Submits Petition to form New Student Chapter at Northeastern University
To continue engaging students, Boston Chapter submitted an official petition to sponsor a new student chapter at Northeastern University. Navid Tajaddod led the effort to start the chapter, with support from Marilyn Minus, the Northeastern University student chapter facility advisor. In May, the North America Board of Directors will vote to approve the student chapter.

Prof. Clem Hiel Wins Ronald Tibbetts Presidential Award
Congratulations to Los Angeles Chapter Member Professor Clem Hiel, winner of the Ronald Tibbetts Presidential Award.
Los Angeles Chapter Grants Conference Scholarship to Local Student
In gratitude to Dr. Scott W. Beckwith, SAMPE Technical Director and Utah Chapter member, for his support in revitalizing the Los Angeles Chapter, the chapter is honoring him with a SAMPE Seattle Conference Scholarship in his name. Joanne Garong, a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at Cal Poly Pomona, received the scholarship.
