Position Summary:

The Membership Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing an annual membership plan, including strategies for membership recruitment, retention and engagement. This individual is responsible for organizing membership activities, development, and relations. In addition, they will update and distribute information via various marketing channels to current and prospective members. They will have full responsibility for the membership database and processes and will send regular reports and updates to key audiences. A key metric will be ensuring a high level of satisfaction and growth amongst the overall membership.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Work with volunteer members to grow membership, and awareness of chapter activities. Oversee the recruitment of new chapter charters.
  • Identify best practices, develop, expand and execute membership onboarding process to include new member welcome packages, optimized communications and member renewals.
  • Generate ROI for the value of membership through research, data gathering and analytics.
  • Promote organization to prospective and current members 
  • Define participation-based membership model. Investigate membership-as-participation tiers
  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets  

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and strong experience in a not-for-profit office environment.
  • Present proof of ability to provide quality customer service
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and AMS/CRM platforms
  • Experience with program planning, implementation and evaluation required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, flexible and collaborative with keen ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be diplomatic and able to interact well with committee members, SAMPE staff, Executive Cabinet members and SAMPE customers.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position requires ITAR Clearance.

Travel Requirements:

Position requires 10-15% travel, including trips to conferences, SAMPE chapter events and other related meetings.
