Royal Lovingfoss | Associate Director | Composites & Advanced Materials Lab
As associate director of the Composites & Advanced Materials Laboratory, Lovingfoss manages the day-to-day responsibility associated with managing the institute’s largest laboratory. He is responsible for staffing, program management and operations. He also oversees NCAMP and was a key member of the team that completed the first FAA certified AM Polymer allowables program.
Lovingfoss is a chemist with fifteen years of experience. He came to NIAR from Toray Composites America. He has also worked for Microsoft as the manager of the X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Laboratory in the environmental compliance group, and for Am Test Air-Quality as an environmental compliance chemist.
His instrument expertise includes elipsometry, contact angle, FTIR, UV-Vis spectophotometry, MS-GC, AA, NMR, HPLC, x-ray fluorescence, DSC and particle sizing.
He graduated in 2001 from the University of Washington in Seattle with a B.S. in chemistry and a minor in mathematics.
